Hillsong launched its “Missio Dei” or “The Mission of God” across all of its church campuses last month during Vision Sunday. It has ignited a passion and a wave of movement across the globe to go after the plans and purposes for the Church in these last days. Pastors Brian & Bobbie Houston are such visionaries and forerunners for the global Church.
This has sparked and ignited such a passion in my heart as well. As a missionary in the midst of the harvest fields of Asia, I see the hand of God working mightily in the Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Nepal, India, Thailand, etc.
I am thankful to be a part of it all. I can’t believe its been four years since I let my job in corporate America to follow the call of God for the my life. Its been a wild, adventurous, faith-filled ride, but one I wouldn’t trade for anything.
The Apostle Paul says, “But I reckon my own life to be worth nothing to me; I only want to complete my mission and finish the work that the Lord Jesus gave me to do, which is to declare the Good news about the grace of God (Acts 20:24 GNT).”
Our best days are yet to come. God is preparing for the grand finale. Its time for us all to take our place, to prepare as these final days unfold. People are waiting to be told the Good News. What are we waiting for?
Get out and share today!
What are you wanting to do different in 2013 that you didn’t maybe do in 2012 or even 2011? What habits will you need to quit or perhaps start to ensure you achieve your expectations? Are there people or relationships you will have to release in order to achieve what God has planned?
As I entered the year I was greeted with these questions and many others like most of us are each year. Its said, how you finish or end (ie. a job, a relationship, task, etc) will largely impact how you start or enter the next. As I reflect back on 2012, I’m thankful for the journey it was. I grew immensely in so many areas. My character was developed. My heart was softened. My vision sharpened. My purpose deepened. My love strengthen. Made new friends. I asked my best friend to marry me. And so much more..
Its already a week into 2013 and I’ve already experienced some great things. A verse that has resonated in my heart has been in Isaiah 54:2:
“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes (AMP)..”
I love how the Message version puts it.. “Think big!”
“Clear lots of ground for your tents! Make your tents large. Spread out! Think big! Use plenty of rope, drive the tent pegs deep. You’re going to need lots of elbow room for your growing family. You’re going to take over whole nations; you’re going to resettle abandoned cities. Don’t be afraid—you’re not going to be embarrassed. Don’t hold back—you’re not going to come up short. You’ll forget all about the humiliations of your youth (2-5; MSG)..”
The word that catches me heart is “enlarge”.. As I meditated on this word, I sensed the Lord asking, “What’s holding you back? Are you ready to expand? Prepare yourself.”
I answered, “Yes Lord, I’m ready..”
I believe this year will bring such an expansion in my life in many areas. I’m preparing my heart and enlarging my expectation for what the Lord is doing and will do. I’m placing action to my faith, I’m strengthening my tent stakes. I’m thinking BIG! I’m clearing the way for the Lord to move freely.
I’m ready, Lord..
Enlarge my territory. My hunger. My desire. My passion. My fire. My family. My growth. My strength. My joy. My mission. My love. My influence. My life. My heart. My relationships. My prosperity. Every area of my life.
2013 will be the best yet..
I had breakfast this morning with a close friend of mine. He is a Pastor. I always enjoy our conversations, because we share the same heart and vision for life. He isn’t your typical clean cut, seminary trained hipster pastor. His redemption story is a remarkable one. His stories of God’s faithfulness and goodness always leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more. His talk is backed up by his walk.
He challenges me with his life. He encourages me with his stories of his adventures. We need people like that in our lives. People that ask the tough questions or challenge us. He inspires me to dream bigger, expect more. He really stretches me to live bigger.
I left our time together this morning with my heart stirred up. I’ve been living in Asia for three years now and I’ve seen God to do some amazing things. I’ve spent the last two years being equipped to further expand my ministry in Asia.
It was on a three week vision trip in 2010 that I clearly felt the Holy Spirit impress on my heart to move to the Philippines to be equipped in New Life School of Ministry and help Pastor Paul Chase the fulfill the vision God gave him and Sister Shoddy.
I’m finished with school, so now its time to continue ministering and pouring my life into the lives of those in the Philippines and Asia. Like a computer its time to reboot and refresh to ensure all the updates take effect..
I’m thankful for the people I have in my life that propel me forward in the things of God. We all need these people and need to be these people to others. Pay it forward. Invest in lives, its the best investment you’ll ever make this side of heaven.
Its time to get to work, roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty.. There are lives waiting to be transformed by the Gospel..
“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” - Galatians 6:9-10 (MSG)
